Venue and bling bling how how???

Okiez.. dear has just confirmed that Grand Copthorne Waterfront has tentatively booked the Galleria Ballroom for us on 30th Nov.

Hmm does it mean tt we are gg to sign it soon?? looks like it.. coz we have sorta alr stopped our hotel shopping after some nil responses from daoz hotels & kinda lazy & its really very tiring.. coz its impossible to fix an appt w hotels within the vicinity and end up we have to travel down City Hall like 3 times 3 consecutive days =S

hmmz we definitely have not shop enough.. but at the moment this seems relatively the best (price, perks, ambience) yupz.. read lots reviews.. of coz there are both +ve and -ve comments, but whether u believe them, its up to ur own discretion too..

and yes, i am someone who is capricious (hmm is tt the right word to use???) fickle-minded hee.. haiz.. still the issue: after the fuss to get an auspicious date and we aren't gg to use it.. duhz..

howhowhow??? pout. anywayz dun block ur calendar yet.. will confirm again when finalised okie.. but maybe u all can plan a post-party @ Zouk after our dinn wink~

did some girly surfing online on wedding bands.. here are some of which i like :) i always like to wear simple ring.. coz i think it makes ur fingers look very yiu xiu (giggle) esp when u are typing (muahaha) but i think to get a ring for myself is so silly... so have to wait patiently... yeah!! got big rock but also dun dare to wear to sch coz scared will get scratches.. so have to wait for the one thing tt i am gg to wear for a lifetime :) oh no.. i sound like a bimbo.. bleahz

Unexpected Surprise!

A trip down hotel searching w/o expectations can be filled with surprises too!

Yupz, so this is what happened when me and bear went down Grand Copthorne Waterfront this afternoon to check out the place. We already know that 7th Dec wont be available + the location is not very accessible so I was carrying the ‘just-go-see-look-loh’ kinda feeling when we were heading our way down. I was more interested in eating the Crystal jade egg tart when we go back Great World after our meeting ops =P

Nonetheless, we were very impressed with the professionalism of the lady who served us. It was kinda love at first sight of the ballroom.

Oh well, just look @ the pics, coincidently the ballroom was set up for a wedding dinner for this weekend and we were so lucky to have a first hand preview of the layout:


The area outside and inside are both very spacious (I should say for a small ballroom), the deco looks very nice hor, making the ambience very pleasant and romantic, okie in short, very comfortable and cosy feeling that we both have. =D (I also realized 10 tables can also have themes de.. not like what other hotels insist no-nos.. hmpf? Yeah??) So this is only one of the many themes that I can choose from!

And this is the outdoor solemnization pavilion by the S’pore River that the wedding coordinator proposed which is like $700 for maybe 15minutes?? Hmmz is it worth the moment… (erhm.. yyessss, for me..) alternatively we can just hold it right after the march in. quite standard loh, which i am also okie.. =)

Other than that the prices are within budget and the perks are attractive! Only catch is the date: 15th Nov or 28 Dec (our auspicious days). Wha!!!

15/11 (Sat)
- (-) Super haggard/stressed after term ends immediately (esp if I kena PW, 99.9% possibility, roarRRR)
- (-) Very packed and rush for both of us
- (+) A longer holiday and move in earlier into our nesty
- (+) Good attendance of guests

28/12 (Sun)
- (-) Abit bored having to wait for the entire hoLs for the BIG day
- (+) Ample time to prettify myself
- (-) Shorter honeymoon OR no honeymoon at all???!!! Coz school’s gg start pretty soon, 3-day leave may not be sufficient
- (+) Good attendance of guests, depends tho..

We have tentatively booked the ballroom for 28th Dec with the lady at 8+pm, and she just replied! Keke~ so we have bout 2 weeks to confirm coz she actually extended last year’s package to us (wahaha coz I emailed her on 30th Dec!!! heng ah.. pat pat miffy) Meanwhile I guess we will just shop for about another 3 more hotels, if not cya at Grand Copthorne Waterfront on 28th Dec ba! Winkz~

Btw, we can go down to HDB for collection of keys next Mon!! Yippie!! But gonna start paying misc fees, etc? hmm.. so we might ask for rescheduling of the appointment. Hoho, so exciting!

Hotel Shopping I & II

We didn’t do down M’sia on Wed coz.. I was so stressed after chats with my buddies on Xmas eve. Everyone is asking me whether our date has been confirmed and venue etc. So, we decided to make our maiden trip down to those hotels that we short listed WITHOUT APPOINTMENT and naturally.. we were rejected coz all the wedding coordinators are not free to ‘entertain’ us! Lesson learnt – Do not assume anything and always call and book an appointment first! roarRRR~

End up we only managed to visit Grand Plaza Park Hotel City Hall and first impression – very china. Erhm I mean oriental looking.

Also didn’t really know what to ask since it being the first hotel that we approached, so based on the pointers that I found on the forum and from friends, Miffy the ‘extrovert’ (as compare to the shy bear which he insists) managed to checked out some information lah.. Can also have an outdoor solemnization (complementary!!!)! Though its very small, I like it =D

Really no luck to check out Pan Pac or Swissotel, quite disappointed and angry with myself for being so moo moo and stubborn.. and dearie Mr Ang didn’t blame me.. made me even more guilty.. Nevertheless we decided to… yeah catch a movie: National Treasure! Not badz.. tho I think the first hour was a bit draggy and the decoding seemed too smooth and easy =P

And more email responses over the next 2 days and finally today, we made our 2nd attempt down City Hall yet again. This time to Swissotel Stamford. Hmm.. overall feel is quite gloomy the place.. Bear don’t really like the blank walls and relatively not much of perks.. I took very long to do a +/- analysis.. of coz.. I am a rational economist! So must weigh the pros and cons before any decision making.. just like how I choose my man.. opps~ blink blink nothing HEE

But after these 2 trips, I realize given our small number of tables, we cant really expect much eg. themes, lots freebies, or a grand ballroom (which I fantasized since young) etc. oh well, now that I am really grown up, I have to be realistic.. I dun need a very elaborate wedding, I feel I just want it to be a simple and cosy affair with my close and loved ones. Maybe I will envy my friends’ wedding when I attend theirs in future, but I am happy with the way it is now =)

So at the moment, we still have our eyes laid on Grand Plaza Park Hotel. Though bear didn’t hear of it at all and its really quite low-profile. Anyway just did my research bout this Park Palace restaurant and the reviews seem positive enough to reassure me and definitely good price deals. Just worried bout the food.. (hope the links work for those who are keen to read on..) So if you have any comments with this venue, please give some 2 cents worth okie dokie =)

Oh ya.. as for the Si Chuan Dou Hua.. nothing much to comment coz totally out coz.. it just doesn’t appeal to us.. or at least to the bridegroom-to-be.

Meanwhile, our wedding prep is still on-going, no worries.. Hmm, we went down to JB (City Square) on the 10th Dec (just before our trip) to check out some of the bridal studios there. Went to Superstar and Dawn’s Wedding (Dewei & Shiyi’s BS) to check out their packages. Yes, I do hear a lot about the pros and cons about getting a M’sia bridal studio. But the perks are really tempting and after looking at their portfolios, I think their standards seems comparable to our local ones (tho I have not made any trips down to Spore BS as yet)..

Of coz just like ID shopping, I also did some homework with regards to what are the standards, what to look out for/ bargain.. all thanx to Ching and Shiyi’s sharing + www.singaporebrides.com. Wahaha~ I saw lots of gowns.. lots of album.. and it seems I cant contain my excitement!! my turn next June tsk tsk~ patience miffy, patience.. I like the greens, waterfall, sea.. basically I like outdoor pics - the nature concept =) can go Desaru or Kota Tinggi to take our shots wor..

Giggle.. Bear says he will prac smiling in front of the mirror every morning so he will have about 130+ days to grinz his sparkling white teeth charmingly anytime, anywhere.. *______*

Will be making another trip down next Wed to Taman Sentosa to check out Ching’s BS – Milan.

We also shortlisted a few hotels and emailed them to enquire bout their banquet quotations. Some of them got back, but like quite ex wor.. hmmm.. have not really chosen a date, but high chances will be either 6/12/08(Sat) or 7/12/08(Sun). 6th coincides with Xiaofan and Justin’s BIG Day too!! Will be doing our excel homework again to do a comparison and further streamline our options.. sumptuous food, affordable prices, romantic atmosphere.. where to find????

Hee.. so this is what a bride-to-be have to go thr.. hee no regrets, no whining coz I like these opps (coz it’s the hoLs and I am free of coz) yeah… more than a yr of hard work just for that moment, that day.. once in a lifetime.. la-la-la..

My floorball frenz frm Korea are here for competition for a week :) So me and dear have been going down to support them in their matches.. They have improved tremendously since 2 years back, while my korean is still as bad! Haha.. And this evening is their semi! wish them goodie luck p(^-^)q

Glad that i have dear around to help out, otherwise i be crazy taking 14 tourists to Orchard Road!
